International Education Week
November 13-16, 2012
Each year in November, FIU participates in the national effort to celebrate International Education Week (IEW). IEW has been designated by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education as a time to highlight the benefits of international education and cultural exchange worldwide and to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment.
One goal of FIU during IEW is to promote opportunities to study and work abroad. ISSS, the Office of Study Abroad, Career Services and other departments and outside organizations collaborate to organize fairs, exhibits, panels, discussions and information sessions to showcase study abroad, internships, and other opportunities overseas. The week also incorporates activities that highlight other cultures which are designed to be both fun and educational. These activities may include cultural performances, cultural dinners, international films, international trivia, and sporting events.
