Important Changes to OPT effective April 8, 2008
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published the new interim final rule on the the extension of Optional Practical Training on April 8, 2008. This interim final rule changes several key aspects of Optional Practical Training (OPT) and becomes effective on April 8, 2008. Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Delta international honor society, recently inducted five new members.
On Wednesday, February 13, the following students were inducted: Courtney Andrea Dill,
Fanny Morera-Matas,
Clarissa Echeverria,
Clara Janaina Area
and Patricia Azuaje. Dr. Kantesh Balani, former Zeta Alpha president delivered the keynote address after the inductees were welcomed by Ted Randall, advisor. Patricia Fievre, student president , provided a history of Phi Beta Delta symbols and colors while Dr. Ana Sippin described the goals of the organization.

Passports Required for U.S., Canadian, Mexican, and Bermudan Air Travelers Starting January 27, 2007
The U.S. Department of State and the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection published a final rule to implement Phase One of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). The rule, effective January 23, 2007, will require valid passports of all U.S. citizens as well as all nonimmigrant aliens with citizenship in Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico, departing from or entering the United States from within the Western Hemisphere at air ports-of-entry. A separate, future rulemaking will address land and sea travelers.

Important Information: FEMA Assistance
After Hurricane Wilma, some international students, may have received
assistance from FEMA and or the Red Cross. Please note that contrary to
what FEMA workers may have said, international students are not eligible
for FEMA asistance. International students who received funds from FEMA
should return the funds as it could raise issues of public charge or
fraud in future contacts with immigration. Assistance from the Red
Cross is acceptable.
